A couple of weeks ago, maybe a month, Moda Bakeshop posted a recipe for a lovely Christmas Ribbon Quilt. I fell in love, ordered the fabric, and printed the pattern all in short order. The fabric is Fa La La La La by French General. It’s a lovely set of fabric.
The only “downside” of the quilt is that it’s probably going to push me into buying a modern sewing machine. When I told the husband this, I expected some questions about cost, need, etc.. Instead, he said, “Well it’s about time!” I guess he thinks my depression era Domestic is a little outdated.
While I put off procuring a sewing machine that’s younger than both of my parents, I’ve been cutting fabric. I’ve already had a few oopsies. Instead of cutting 7.5″ squares I cut 6.5″, and there was another. Luckily I can just use the fabric for smaller pieces, but really, I need to pay a bit more attention.
In a random act of insanity, I signed up for a half marathon at the end of January. And just to make sure I didn’t slack off training, I signed up for a 10k in November. I started today using a 10k beginner training from KineticGPS iphone app. I’m pretty out of shape, but that routine was way too easy. It was 15 minutes of 3min walk, 2 min run. I’ll follow the training routine for the rest of the week and see how I feel about it then.
My actual time goals for the 10k and the half marathon… well I don’t have any other to finish. Which I believe is entirely within reason.
The husband and I have moved a couple times in the past few years. And when we move, things get thrown out, they get misplaced. One of those things was my iPhone arm band. I didn’t even try to look for it. It’s just gone. But I needed one. Being the resourceful gal that I am, I turned to the interwebs and searched for a do-it-yourself iPhone armband. I found one! Simply take a sock, fold it, sew a couple lines, and voilà! iPhone armband. Not quite. Some things, you just shouldn’t do yourself. I suggest to anyone thinking of doing the sock iPhone armband to leave your significant other’s socks in the drawer and just go buy an armband.
